    Thibaud Boudignon Anjou Rosé '23

    Loire Valley

    Thibaud Boudignon Anjou Rosé '23

Thibaud Boudignon is originally from Bordeaux, and, before launching his career in winemaking, practiced competitive judo. He began to make wine under his own name in 2009, after his mother passed away, leaving him money as well as instructions that he put it to good use. He started his winery with a scant 3.5 hectares (about 8.5 acres) in the heart of Anjou and Savennières, in the Loire Valley. Previously, he had worked as the winemaker at Château Soucherie, in Savennières, managing the estate’s transition to organic viticulture. Knowing that the quality of the fruit was the most important factor in creating his own wines, he committed fully to maximizing the health of his vines, choosing to farm organically and spending as much time as possible in the vineyards. His devotion paid off quickly, for in just a few vintages his name caught the attention of the Loire’s vignerons as well as Parisian wine bars, and eventually became known globally. He has been able to focus exclusively on his own operation since 2015, and the praise he has garnered speaks to the remarkable quality of his wines and their ability to speak so clearly of their place of origin.

This is the only wine he produces that is not white or made from Chenin Blanc. Thibaud makes it with the same intention and integrity with which he makes his white wines, capturing the subtleties of texture, minerality, and fruit character, ultimately conveying a sense of place. The cépage is primarily Cabernet Franc, blended with about 10% Grolleau. The wine is a direct press rosé and rests in tank for about four months, allowing the salinity and bright minerality to shine along with the vibrant notes of wild red berries. This is a rosé that everyone will enjoy, and we strongly suggest you have a second bottle chilling for when the first runs out.
